A mother-of-three was allegedly bashed to death by her estranged husband on Wednesday night.
Amira Moghnieh was found unconscious and with critical injuries inside Ahmad Hodroj’s home in Bexley, Sydney, at around 6pm.
The 30-year-old died a short time later, The Daily Telegraph reported.
It is understood that she had visited Hodroj home to discuss custody arrangements for her children, who are aged between two and six.
Hodroj was arrested near the scene and charged with murder.
On Thursday, he appeared in Sutherland Local Court where he did not apply for bail.
He will appear in court again in August.
The couple are believed to have split around a year ago and were going through a divorce, according to Daily Mail Australia.
A former colleague of Hodroj, who worked for a company employed by Qantas, said he was “very shocked” to hear the news.
“His wife used to bring him lunch to work. Sometimes he would share it. She was a good cook,” he said.
Tributes were left for Ms Moghnieh, a singer and dancer, online.
“May your soul rest in heaven, my love,” one wrote.
“You will always be remembered in our hearts forever,” another said.
Investigations into Ms Moghnieh’s death are continuing.
